Times are bad...

What do you do when you can't go out? Get dressed and start playing your toys in the playroom. Abel seemed to grown to like Keziah's leappad alphabet book more than his sister.

Even if you get a drink, you have to share...haha coz Mommy didn't want to buy more as she didn't like the idea of kids drinking bottled sweetened drinks. She gave in as Daddy was the one thirsty. But how can you expect the kids not to want it if they see it?

Reading...

To get Keziah prepared to read, we have started her on blending words. Slow it may be, she can read simple books from the phonic set that we have within the short 'vowel a' word family. She is still getting used to blending words as she seems to forget the letter sounds once she tries to put the sounds together though she can sound out each letter very well. Nonetheless, this is only the beginning. Slow and stead wins the race.

Learning to read..

We had been doing bedtime reading and reading as and when there's time. The kids have grown to love reading. However, eventhough Keziah is turning 4, she still can't read on her own. She had been learning the letter sounds since she was 2ish and know her letters really well. Mommy decided to start on a reading to help her. This hooked on Phonics set was bought some time last year and finally, it's out for use. Keziah was quite excited to begin reading as there's a story after learning one or two word families. We started with the "at" family and she breezed through that. Her zeal was nonetheless shortlived as we moved on the more word families ("an", "ap", "ad", "ag"). She tended to read by memory rather than blending the letters. Guess we just have to be consistent and try to take small step each time.
